A Good Day

Well this morning I visited the clinic for a check up. I received a platelet transfusion because well I barely had any. And I'll probably need a blood transfusion on Friday when I go back again, but that's to be expected right now after chemo. And GREAT news! That dang tumor has shrunk! I don't know exactly by how much, but smaller is good.

Anyway I'm just trying to eat(which has been hard because I'm still a little nauseated). I have found that right now I enjoy macaroni and cheese with Fruit Punch Gatorade. mmmmm...a tasty combination.

Many of you have been asking about getting tested and here's how you do it: Go to the Puget Sound Regional Blood Bank www.psbc.org. You can get into the national registry and while you may not be matched with me, you could still be someone else's donor and save another life.

Another note is that a prayer service is being held for me Thursday February 4th at 7pm. Located at the Best Western, 6575 Kimball Drive, WA. All your love and prayers are so appreciated.

Wow...this has gotten long...but I'll wrap things up for today...I'm doing alright, I know God is with me and I can do anything through Him, that's what gets me through. Phil. 4:13

Well 19 kids and counting is on, and then lost, so as you can I've got a busy evening haha.

Take Care everyone,

Love,
Karina

  1. Hi Karina,
It's Adam...the nurse from Boston that took care of you the first time you were diagnosed at Mary Bridge Children's Hospital in Tacoma. Not sure if you remeber me but I definitely remember you. You and your family are the bomb. Man oh man you were pretty sick back then. You have the heart of a lion though. You pulled through a very tough time and believe it or not you helped the rest of your family pull through too with you. Maddy, the other nurse from Boston that took care of you still asks about you. She's living in CO now. Aspen..woohoo! I'm currently working at Boston Children's. In oncology. I'm at work RIGHT NOW taking care of a 15 year old who's relapsed. This happens. I want that lion heart you have to pour out its strength and love. This is the gift you have.
WHen I read your dad's email letting people know your back in the fight, I have to say I let out a gasp here at the nurse's station.
You and your family hold a special place in my heart.
If you ever have any questions don't hesitate to ask. Your dad has my email.
I miss your mom's cookies and your dad's wine! mmmm. (but not together).
    Later gator,
    Adam Fitz

  2. Hi Karina,
We are so behind you for this new battle. I loved reading Adam's comments about what a lion you were last time. You CAN do it again. We're praying for the Lord to heal you...you are both strong LION's (like Aslan, in your favorite book!)...
I think Steve & Bekah can come Thursday to the Prayer Service.
Lots of love to you all - give hugs to your mom and dad for me, kay?

  7. Hi Karina,

I'm a Lighthouse mom and have been praying for you ever since I heard about your cancer last week. You were on my heart this morning and I asked my middle schooler Sydney if she knew you. She replied,"Of course mom, her picture is on our refrigerator!" You were her leader at VBS several years ago and are in a sweet photo with my daughter and her friends. What a special connection, thank you for your love and touch all those years ago. Know that we are praying for you - We trust in a mighty God!

    With love,

    The Sheets family
